When the BBC filmed a documentary for our school we were able to talk to them. Although their focus was not on a music video through telling us what they include in a documentary I was able to link it back to my own project and what I need to do in order to make sure it has the conventions of a music video. For example, they said they used a lot of shot reverse shot. However, for my music video there will not be any dialogue in the footage so I will not be using shot reverse shot and also I want the music video to be something that is external instead of the internal documentary which the BBC was filming. This is something they highlighted when they explained how they filmed the documentary in such a way that the audience felt immersed and part of the scene themselves. I have also learnt the importance of establishing shots when Zoe (the producer) explained how they would film through a lesson window to establish the location and the people involved in the scene.
The camera that the filming team used was a Sony FS7 mark 1. Zoe explained how the camera was not much different from ours, it just had more functions. Surprisingly the camera was quite light and was simple to use. I think it may have been good to shoot our music video as it was easy to create steady moving and zooming shots. This is because the camera had a silver bar which rested near the front which made keeping it steady rather easy. Although I do not have this on my own camera, I think that i could achieve the same thing by using the tripod in the same manner.
