How we did it
To create this effect we videoed both phones dropping onto the floor separately. We then cut the videos in the place where the phones looked to be in the same position and cut them together. To reverse the footage we added the relapse effect on IMovie.
What went well
The phones almost seamlessly match together and it is not obvious where the footage has changed. The relapse effect was simple to achieve and works effectively.
Improvements to make
The phones were almost to similar and so it is not obvious that the phone has changed during the flip. In the clip of the HTC the shadow is in a different position to where it is during the flip of the iPhone. This may be because we took to long between each take so if we were to attempt this again we would either have to film the clips straight after each other or film in artificial light.
How we did it
To create this effect we videoed myself getting up from the same position in both settings. We then cut the footage together when i opened my eyes and when i got up from the chair. Each time we cut the footage the location would change.
What went well
The angles of the shots and positioning of everything in the scene was almost identical in each cut. This meant that the match on action was almost perfect.
Improvements to make
There was a slight lighting change between the two cuts of the close up of the eyes. It may have been useful to adjust the lighting in iMovie or film in two locations with similar lighting. The zooming in the footage could have been steadier. We could have used the ken burns effect in iMovie instead which would have also allowed us to match the close ups of the eyes perfectly.
How we did it
To create this effect we filmed the road with the car driving on it and filmed the road with the car not on it. We then used a cross dissolve effect to make the car appear as though it had disappeared.
What went well
The car does appear as though it has disappeared and the footage shows no sign of editing errors.
Improvements to make
The effect was not that interesting. It may have been more complex but we could have made all the cars on the road disappear.

Learning comment
From this task I have learnt that editing can be used creatively to create a more interesting video. The use of cuts can be used to create the impression that something unlikely has occurred in the video which if used effectively could add meaning to a music video and make it more interesting. One of the edits I liked the most was the zoom 1.1. This is because I think if used effectively in a music video (to the right genre of music and edited appropriately in time with the pace of the song) it could create an interesting narrative and intrigue viewers to watch more. However, the disappear edit we created is also used a lot in music videos. When looking at music videos i found that the disappear edit was used mostly in slow songs to show a loss experienced by the protagonist featured in the footage. Therefore I have learnt that editing can be used to hint towards the genre of music and intrigue the viewer to watch a more interesting unconventional video.
